Bad Boys Star, Will Smith, Demonstrates Proper Gun Safety. Sort Of.

Hollywood is an interesting contradiction of ideas. The general Hollywood message is that guns are bad and should be banned. At the same time, all of the highest grossing movies in history are action flicks. Guns and explosions often substitute for plot and character development. Even while Hollywood decries action movies, they seem to be the most popular format.

We all understand why. It’s about money. Movie makers don’t have principles. They don’t care about people. If audiences want guns and explosions, that’s what they get. If liberal lawmakers who give Hollywood elites a bunch of privileges and power want gun control, then that’s the message the actors, directors and writers will push. It’s all about money.

The sad part is that the contradiction leads to some really bad stuff in movies and TV. For every John Wick (where Keanu Reeves demonstrates countless hours of real firearm training), there’s a Suicide Squad. Hollywood doesn’t care about authenticity, and the liberals who watch the movies think they’re seeing a realistic depiction of gun handling and safety when they watch a Transformers movie. This couldn’t be more wrong.

Anyone with even basic training can point out countless flaws in any action move or police drama. It’s incredibly frustrating. What’s truly incredible is that an actor who spends his life making these movies and supporting the anti-gun message can still manage to learn a few important tips along the way. Some ideas of basic gun safety can get through even to a liberal, and it’s always good to see proper safety.

In this video, Will Smith is looking over firearms in preparation for a film. There’s a table full of weapons, not unlike what you might see at a gun store, and some idiot picks one up without any knowledge of the fundamentals of safety. He directly puts people’s lives in danger.

When you see the video, you’ll be angry. You’ll probably want to slap the moron waving a gun around and muzzle sweeping everyone in the room.

That’s why you’ll get a kick out of Will Smith’s reaction. It’s appropriate and effective. There’s some extra nonsense in the video, but all of that is self-explanatory. Watch the video. Enjoy the immediate justice, and appreciate that even a Hollywood liberal recognizes the very most important component of gun safety.

  1. I think it is badass that Will Smith knows some gun safety. Half of all this BS going on probably would not happen, if more people even had an idea of how to handle these tools. I notice that it is a common theme in comedies to have the gun go off “randomly”. All this stuff is absurd, these things are tools to be used properly, not an unstable bomb. We should support anyone pro 2A, who doesn’t make a fool of themselves and promotes good handling. Good handling over no handling.

  2. He’s lucky that wasn’t me, because my left hand would’ve been upside his head!!! Then I’d correct him!!

  3. And don’t slap the gun down, grab it, and the hand and control its direction.
As a gun safety aside, I once dropped behind the end of a counter to place the cash register between me and the 2 guys attempting to control a loaded gun in the hands of a person who had jerked it from a shoulder holster asking if it was loaded. The holster was on an active LEO so I assumed it WAS loaded. Somebody called me chicken but I’m not getting shot because of really stupid.
