London is a great city for liberals. The bastion of progressive policy that leads the world in how to be better. The police don’t even carry guns! It is the progressive ideology that makes the city one of the safest in the world. It’s a haven for people of every race and creed. Terrorism, discrimination and crime are a threat to no one!
You’ve seen the headlines. You know where this is going. London is under siege from a new wave of crime. Property crime, assaults, terrorism and now murder have all grown to dangerous proportions. Let’s take a look at London and her policies and see if there is a lesson hidden somewhere.
London Crime Wave
This story begins with a look at skyrocketing crime in London. The major headline that you have probably seen is that London’s murder rate exceeded that of New York City. This is a first for recorded history, and it has now persisted for two consecutive months.
To be fair, the London murder problem is only barely ahead of New York, but considering that it has been lower for more than a hundred consecutive years, it’s a big deal. In February and March each, London had one more than New York. We’ll see if the trend continues in April.
The real story is that crime in London has been on the rise for a long time. The initial spike began with a firearms ban in the 90s. In the last five years, things have accelerated. Knife crime in the city is up 46 percent from 2014.
In the last year, things have been more dramatic. Overall firearm crime rose by 20 percent last year. Knife crime similarly rose by 21 percent in the same period. Since London has long boasted some of the strictest gun control in the world, many are wondering what else the city can do to defend itself.
New Tactics
Gun crime is rising, but guns are already banned. There is only one obvious solution: ban knives. Since gun bans have effectively eliminated gun crime and it hasn’t been steadily rising for years, a knife ban is sure to finish off all components of danger in London. The city’s new campaign is “Save a life — surrender your knife.” This is sure to work. As the city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, already put it, “there is never a reason to carry a knife.”
And, he’s right. No one has ever used a knife for something simple like cutting a loose thread on their clothing. Carrying a knife surely couldn’t help someone survive outside of the city. It definitely couldn’t be used for simple car repair. In more serious circumstances, knives are absolutely useless for cutting seat belts after a car accident. Most importantly, no knife has ever been used to administer emergency first aid. That would be ridiculous. Who would use a deadly weapon to try and save someone?
Of course, all of this is ignoring the most obvious. Knives are an obsolete tool for cutting food. In the forward-thinking, progressive city of London, only certified professionals should be allowed to reduce food into edible bites.
Are You Tired of Being Right?
We’ve been mocking the notion of “common sense” gun control for years. This is why. The conclusions are obvious and inescapable. Banning guns doesn’t stop crime. It doesn’t even save lives. In the case of London, crime has only risen since guns were confiscated.
When the liberals see the fruits of their failure, they never learn a lesson. Rather than empower London citizens to defend themselves from criminals, they steer harder into absurdity and tell us there is no reason to carry a knife.
What comes after knives? After all, blunt objects are frequently dangerous. No one needs a hammer in their home. Will London eventually try to regulate bare hands? Or, will they eventually learn from their mistakes and try a new tactic. The latest surge in violence coincides perfectly with the London police removing their longstanding stop and frisk policies.
Taking direct action against criminals is the only way to reduce crime, and the easiest way to accomplish that is to empower the citizens. Otherwise, it’s only a matter of time before you have to ban food to keep people from choking.

Refugee does NOT mean permanent resident. Yet the people come here and the Progressive Government keeps them to bolster their voting numbers in order to ensure implementation of their Socialist/Communist Agenda to take away our rights and put America under their thumb. This is why they want guns, especially Assault weapons. To try to use London as an example of a failed gun control policy is little short of despicable. There has never been a concealed carry permit in the UK, ever. Londons problems arise from Tony Blairs policy of joining Bushs wars in the middle east. London is suffering from naked terrorism with guns, knives and vehicles. For this publication to try to make a comparison with that and the levels of gun violence in the streets of the USA is disgusting

This is illustrative of how right-wing myopia mirrors left-wing myopia – only care about people’s rights under certain circumstances, while endorsing government rights violations against individuals outside those circumstances, in the name of “public safety” or whatever. Both sides do it. Both are leading, in their own ways, toward greater authoritarian control, even while allegedly opposing this.
I suspect that many honestly don’t see it. They think they can benefit public safety or society by pursuing a “zero tolerance” policy for guns, or a “war on drugs”, or having surveillance cameras everywhere as in Britain, or massive government electronic surveillance and data harvesting as in the U.S., to apprehend terrorists, without undermining and endangering the freedom of society as a whole.
