New York Jailing and Convicting Legal, Permitted Gun Owners

We all know how anti-gun the state of New York is by now. They have some of the most egregious gun control laws in the country. But this time they may have gone too far.

New York is arresting, jailing and convicting law abiding, legal gun owners even if they follow all of the laws. And they are refusing to apologize for it!

Reason TV’s John Stossel did a segment on permitted gun owners who travel through New York airports being arrested and jailed weekly for carrying unloaded handguns despite correctly following all TSA procedures and guidelines for flying with a handgun.

One such traveler, Avi Wolf, was flying home to Georgia through LaGuardia airport in NYC. He was arrested and charged for having an empty magazine in his luggage. He had no bullets, no gun—just the empty magazine in his bag.

When he declared the item to TSA at the airport, “I’m telling them that, notification here, I have a magazine here. It’s empty—there’s no bullets, no gun powder.”

Wolf spent a day in jail and paid $15,000 in legal fees for plea bargaining the felony charge down to public disorder.
