NRA Shakeup Overblown by Liberal Media

If you read headlines, you might think that the NRA is doomed. Press outlets owned by billionaire Michael Bloomberg are working overtime to convince the masses that the organization is dead in the water.

You should already suspect that this is a propaganda scheme. Bloomberg’s hope is that Americans won’t join the NRA if they think it’s a lost cause. Despite the propaganda, there are some issues facing the NRA, and you would do well to stay informed.

Illegal Targeting

Despite what the left will try to tell you, this is the biggest story surrounding the NRA right now. You’ve probably heard some mention of it before. A large number of banks and insurance companies are refusing to do business with the NRA. If they had come to this decision on their own, it wouldn’t be a controversy. That’s an important expression of freedom. Of course, this story is something else entirely.

The reason these companies are boycotting the NRA is because the governor of New York is effectively forcing them to. Every company on the boycott list is headquartered in New York. In order to flex his political power, Governor Andrew Cuomo and his office have unofficially labeled the NRA as a terrorist organization.

Think about that for a moment. An organization that represents more than 5 million Americans and has never been involved in violence in over 100 years is effectively labeled as a terrorist organization. That’s beyond outrageous.

The result of this illegal targeting by the government has put the NRA in a tough spot. They pioneered concealed carry insurance, but now the companies that committed to fulfilling that insurance role are under attack by the New York state government. It’s a dangerous mix of propaganda and illegal government activity, and it’s exactly this kind of behavior that makes the 2nd Amendment so important. If the New York government can’t be brought back into the confines of the law, desperate measures may become necessary.

Oliver North

According to mainstream media, this is actually the biggest story concerning the NRA. Oliver North has stepped down from his position as president. More accurately, he wasn’t nominated for a second year. Supposedly, the reason his tenure is ending is because of an internal dispute with NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre.

If you don’t recognize this name, LaPierre has been an integral part of NRA leadership for the past 20 years. Supposedly, LaPierre and North have a serious disagreement over some specific issues. The media is painting this as an extortion scandal, but statements from the NRA haven’t used that language.

The private conversations between the two are just that. So, we’ll try to cut through the media bias and focus on what is known. The board unanimously re-elected LaPierre as CEO of the organization. They did not nominate North. In fact, his replacement has already been selected.

Some might see this as the board siding with LaPierre. Others can admit that they don’t know all of the details. Regardless, this is not the major story the media want it to be. They like smearing the NRA, and internal strife sounds a lot juicier than an organization simply looking to expand leadership roles to new personnel.

Another story that is blown out of proportion is the lawsuit between the NRA and Ackerman McQueen. The lawsuit itself is interesting, but it’s the larger picture represented by this circumstance that really matters. Ackerman McQueen is a public relations agency that has worked with the NRA for some years. The NRA is suing them over a lack of billing transparency. That’s it.

The bigger issue ties back to Andrew Cuomo and his illegal targeting. Ackerman McQueen is on a short list of large-scale advertisers who is willing to work with the NRA despite all of the bad press. If the lawsuit were to permanently damage the relationship between the two organizations, the NRA might have difficulty replacing Ackerman McQueen with a comparable firm.

There’s a lot of information and misinformation swirling around these days. The key takeaways are simple. The NRA is not spiraling. It’s facing new challenges, and all of them are coming in the form of illegal government activity.

If you find yourself concerned, there are two big ways to help. The first is to involve your Representative and/or Senators. We can’t let a state government behave in such a destructive and illegal way. It’s completely unacceptable.

The second thing you can do is spend your money knowingly. By all means, sign up and support the NRA if you’d like. More importantly, we should all strive to support businesses that refuse to be bullied by the progressive wing. That also means boycotting the companies that target the NRA and strive to curb our freedoms.

If we take these two steps, we can endure the trials and continue to ensure that America remains the freest and most advanced civilization the world has ever known.

  1. Between the ” media” and the internet trolls, it does sound like doom and gloom, that’s the goal! All us NRA members need to understand that, and stand fast. Whether it be GOA or NRA, we need to understand who the real enemy is.

  2. This is the result when power is consolidated where it should not be. New York has aptly demonstrated that they are incapable of common sense or discernment. Why are bullied businesses not leaving? Frankly, I am confused about this situation. You did not mention that the NRA supports red flag laws and magazine bans. They are viewed as traitors to many. Both New York and everyone else would do well to remember that pride comes before a fall.

  3. IMO the state of New York, and Andrew Cuomo personally should be sued by the NRA for interference with lawful commerce. They should be sued in FEDERAL court, preferably outside of NY state. Cuomo especially should be held liable. IF he can be found guilty of a felony, that will end his career in politics, as a lawyer, or any position of trust. JMO

  4. Please list any and all companies that refuse to work with the NRA!

  5. “Can you list companies who don’t support the NRA?”

“Please list any and all companies that refuse to work with the NRA!”

    Excellent requests.

  6. why is the NRA and the President validating the RED FLAG LAWS… THIS IS A CRIME AGAINST THE 5 MILLION THAT VOTED FOR THIS PRESIDENT.
This anti 2nd amendment is not only coming from the socialists… many so called conservatives, including our President is,too. Still can not understand how President Trump could stand their and lie in front of a clapping crowd after he validated the RED FLAG LAWS, he gave the anti gunners what they needed by that, “Take the guns first, let the courts sort it out later”, statement… with and the NRA tip toeing around the red flag issue. how can anyone forget and act happy by clapping??? yes I know no other one running is better… sad state of leadership does not mean we should ignore the fact that the president is a bold face liar and sold out 5 million legal gun owners that helped him win in 2016.

  7. There must be a way we can boycott New York and specifically Cuomo. He is the devil, incarnate, as is Warren, Pelosi, Soros, and numerous others who seek to destroy the rights and freedoms of Americans. Can someone come up with an effective way of giving Cuomo the consequences he deserves? I am all ears.

  8. Easy answer. Get rid of NY and CA. More complicated and drawn out, bring them all up on charges of unconstitutional behavior.

  9. I was wondering about the list of businesses too. As sad as it is, it might be easier to list the companies that WILL work with the NRA.

  10. Good day!
If you want me to read this blurb, then get some contrast in the type. I am 79 years old, I would like to be able to read your stuff without getting a headache. Please fix the contrast problem (What the hello is wrong with black on white?) and get a larger font.! If that is too much trouble I can just UNSUBSCRIBE.

  11. This once proud NRA member will not renew my membership until La Pierre is gone from the Organization for good. He is as outdated as a flintlock rifle and the NRA needs a Pitbull at the helm, not a misfiring, aged French Poodle!
