The new president of the National Rifle Association of America has been chosen, and within a couple of weeks, it will become official. The NRA Board of Directors has announced that retired United States Marine Corps Lt. Colonel Oliver North will become the new association president. The Vice President and CEO of the NRA, Wayne LaPierre, echoed the excitement of the board and NRA members in his statement, “Oliver North is a legendary warrior for American freedom, a gifted communicator, and skilled leader. In these times, I can think of no one better suited to serve as our President.”
North is thankful and eager for his new position hoping that he can use his role to put the business affairs in order and strength the organization as a whole. North has announced his retirement from Fox News effective immediately to prepare for his new position.
When asked about how he feels after being chosen, North was quoted as saying, “I am honored to have been selected by the NRA Board to soon serve as this great organization’s President. I appreciate the board initiating a process that affords me a few weeks to set my affairs in order, and I am eager to hit the ground running as the new NRA President.”
The former NRA President Pete Brownell announced his intent not to run for a second term to be able to spend more time with his family and devote more time to his family business. The board then acted quickly to begin the process that would allow for North to become the new president. Brownell addressed the board in a letter showing his full support to make Oliver North the new NRA president.
CEO Wayne LaPierre discussed the content of Brownell’s letter stating, “He suggested we reach out to a warrior amongst our board members, Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North, to succeed me. Wayne and I feel that in these extraordinary times, a leader with his history as a communicator and resolute defender of the Second Amendment is precisely what the NRA needs. After consulting with NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox, First Vice President Childress and Second Vice President Meadows, I can report there is extraordinary support for Col. North.”
Once the announcement was made, Vice President of the NRA Richard Childress stated to the board that due to a wide range of commitments in the upcoming weeks, he would be unable to perform the role as the interim president after Brownell’s announcement. After his response, the Board appointed the Second Vice President Carolyn Meadows to assume the interim positions for the few weeks while North prepares to take on the new presidential role.
LaPierre expressed his gratitude and support for the board praising them for their quick action and continued vision. He went on to state that North will be the best choice to engage with members, lead the board in critical decisions, and help the association continue the fight in standing up for the second amendment rights of United States citizens and continue to protect their freedom.
Who is Lt. Colonel Oliver North?
Oliver North has played a number of roles throughout his long career. He has been an American political commentator, a television personality, a best selling author, a military historian, a retired U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel, a member of the National Security Council, and now president of the NRA.
North had started his military career as a platoon commander during the war in Vietnam where he was awarded numerous commendations for bravery and heroism including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Silver Star. He then led a distinguished career through till his retirement from the Marine Corps at which time he excelled at his post-military career.
What Will This Mean for the NRA?
NRA members are extremely excited to have not only a popular leader who brings extra star power to their organization but also one that has made the protection of freedom their goal throughout their entire life. His appointment came at a crucial time as gun-control activists have continued to seize momentum for their agenda in the wake of recent mass shootings. By having a prominent person leading the cause, the NRA will be better equipped to get their message out to all citizens looking to protect their constitutional freedoms.
LaPierre summed up the member consensus by stating, “Oliver North is a true hero and warrior for freedom and NRA members are proud to stand with him.”

Oliver North is the Best man for the job – He was and still is an outstanding Marine, who will serve the NRA.
As his Scoutmaster and mentor in our EXPLORER POST where he showed outstanding abilities as a LEADER and ORGANIZER of ACTIVITIES CONNECTED with EXPLORER PROGRAMS Such as GUN SAFETY , SURVIVAL IN THE OUTDOORS, HELPING OTHER’S, AND the many other NOTABLE VALUES taught in scouting as exemplified in the Scout Oath and the Scout LAW Similar to our PLEDGE of ALLEGIANCE , His lifetime experience and achievements are a record that any man would be proud of but then he is NOT JUST ANY MAN, IS HE??? CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW PRESIDENT of the NRA !!!

only time will tell, he sure has his work cut out for him. the left with all of these school shootings is out for NRA blood. they know if they can blame the NRA for all the trouble in our country it will make it easier to push their agenda,And if they can ultimately destroy the NRA we will become a easily defeated country. The NRA is the main block to their goals.

As a former US Marine myself, I strongly support both Lt. Col. Oliver North and the NRA. We need someone who will speak out against
frivolous charges against the NRA and it’s members in our mainstream media reports.
Lt. Col North is a hero in the true sense of the word, for all he has said and done in the past.
