Anti-Gunners Stumble while Seeking Support

The Second Amendment truly is under a full-out assault from anti-gun zealots and Democrats. There has not been a single piece of rational legislation from either of those far left groups in the last twenty years that has earned the majority of support from gun owners or pro- Second Amendment groups like the NRA. Instead, they propose anti-gun policies that are designed to generate emotional support and have virtually no basis in reality.

Former Vice President Joe Biden is a perfect example. Biden once was considered the front-runner to win the Democrat Party nomination. Sen. Bernie Sanders, a devout communist and anti-gunner who praises the likes of gun confiscators Castro, Mao, and Stalin, has emerged as the front-runner. Other prominent candidates with any waning chances at winning an eventual nomination include former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who champions red flag laws and the banning and forced confiscation of civilian firearms.

Virtually all candidates vying to unseat President Donald Trump are trying hard to make firearm bans and the eventual repeal of the Second Amendment an election focal point. Virtually none of them are dealing with reality in proposing their anti-gun platforms.

During the recent South Carolina Dem debate, Biden got away with saying 150 million American citizens died from gunshot wounds since 2007. That is more than all Americans ever killed in every military action, including both World Wars and the Civil War. That’s preposterous. What’s even more preposterous is that none of the moderators pushed back on his outrageous claim.

Biden’s ignorance of firearms fatalities belies his ignorance of firearms in general. He likes to portray himself as a rugged, tough, individualistic Democrat more in line with the progressive Kennedy clan. He would have us believe duck hunting and similar pursuits are within his grasp. But Biden clearly knows nothing about hunting or the firearms used for them.

Regarding his support for banning the AR-15 and similar civilian rifles, Biden once told Field & Stream editors, “If you have to go up into the Poconos and go bear hunting or deer hunting with that weapon, and you need a clip that has 30 rounds in it, then you shouldn’t be hunting. You’re a danger to yourself. If you can’t get the bear or the deer in four or five shots, you’ve got a problem.”

Yeah, Biden really said that. All states limit the capacity of rounds you can have in hunting rifles while in the field. In Pennsylvania, where the Poconos are located, that is five rounds in the magazine of a semiautomatic rifle. The magazine also cannot hold more than six rounds. That is three rounds more than a lot of states allow for deer hunts and other game.

Simple fact is, if you are using four or five rounds to take your prey, you need to improve your shooting and hunting. Hunters emphasize fast and humane kills. That means getting close enough to hit the vitals with a high degree of accuracy and dropping the prey with one shot. Two at most. Much more than that, and the prey will likely get away– or is about to kill you.

Clearly, Biden has no grasp of firearms reality. Meanwhile, Sanders is touting the virtues of Marxism and totalitarian regimes that disarm, line up, and kill political dissidents. The anti-gunner ignorance is vast.
