If You Think the VA Rally Coverage Was Insane… Read This

Despite days of hysterical media coverage claiming that a white nationalist terror group was going to capture the Virginia government the other day, it turned out completely peaceful. No shots were fired…no one stormed the Capitol…there was no violent protest.

What the media was doing was pure projection. When Democrats are frozen out of power by democracy and voting, they turn into violent nutjobs. They expected the pro-2nd Amendment rally to end up with Governor Blackface McKlanhood being dragged out of his office and lynched, before a new White Supremacist Constitution was installed, because that’s what they want to do when they’re locked out of power. It’s pure projection.

Don’t believe me? Then keep reading, and keep in mind… all of what you’re about to read REALLY HAPPENED in America.

Following the Civil War, the town of Wilmington, North Carolina eventually became a black-majority city. There was no welfare state or Planned Parenthood to wreck black families at the time, so the town was a thriving place. There were black craftsmen and tradesmen, decent schools and even a black newspaper. The town had a rising black middle class.

Because the black population majority had the right to vote, the Party of Abraham Lincoln held a lock on city power. Although they technically called themselves the Fusionists, they were basically Republicans and they had swept many state and local governments in the previous election. Unlike one-party Democrat-controlled cities of today, there were no smelly hoboes pooping on the sidewalks, and everyone got along pretty well.

Except for Democrats, who were infuriated by a situation where a majority black, Republican-run city was thriving. Here’s how the Washington Post described Wilmington, NC in 1898, which had an ascendant black middle class at the time:

“The Negro in North Carolina… is thriftless, improvident, does not accumulate money, and is not accounted a desirable citizen.”

Hoo boy! Democracy dies in darkness and all that.

As part of their unique voter outreach strategy, Democrats in Wilmington formed a group called the White Government Union. Then, they started kidnapping white Republican men from their homes. They gave the Republican men a choice: Join the Democrats’ White Government Union or pack your stuff and leave town immediately. Refusal to comply would result in them being lynched.

This is about to start to sound like a Babylon Bee parody article but stick with me. This REALLY happened.

The Democrats named their statewide convention in the run-up to the 1898 election the “White Supremacy Convention.” Yes, really. The main campaign strategy that they adopted was for Democrats to stand up anytime a Republican was delivering a stump speech and begin screaming the word, “Ni*ger!” Feminist Democrat leader Rebecca Cameron encouraged the Democrat men to choke the rivers of North Carolina with their black and white foes. Why even bother voting?

At the Democrats’ 1898 White Supremacy Convention, they formed a special group called the “Red Shirts.” The job of the Red Shirts was to continue the Democrats’ voter outreach by blocking horse and buggy traffic in city streets, annoying people with jobs, raping black women and girls along with white women suspected of being Republicans, setting black-owned businesses on fire, violently punching anyone on the street that they suspected of being a Fusionist/Republican – which meant all black people – and shooting black people and known white Republicans from ambush in rural areas near Wilmington.

Governor Daniel Russell, a Republican who was born and raised in Wilmington, wanted to try to calm things down as the violence began spiraling out of control. When his train arrived, Red Shirts surrounded it and tried to lynch him. He barely got out alive.

On election day, Red Shirts blocked all the roads in and out of the city. When black and white Republican voters from outside the city tried to come into town to vote, the Red Shirts drove them away from the polls by shooting at them.

They also had a rigorous ballot box-stuffing project under way at polling places, with undercover Democrats replacing every Republican ballot they could get their hands on.

The Democrats/Red Shirts miraculously ended up with 1,000 more votes than they had garnered in the previous election just two years ago – which is a lot for a town the size of Wilmington in 1898.

Despite all of that murder, attempted murder, rape, intimidation, vote suppression, a rousing White Supremacy Convention, and cheating in the actual election while disenfranchising black and white voters at gunpoint… the Democrats still lost. Democracy had failed them again. It turns out that threatening to strip your opponents of all of their rights and kill them when you take power is not actually a good election strategy. (Attention Bernie Sanders.) Although shouting the N-word during every Republican speech probably worked wonders!

Following their disappointing loss at the ballot box, Democrats immediately hatched an insane conspiracy theory that blacks were planning to exterminate all of the white people in Wilmington. Which was supposed to make total sense because… black and white Republicans were in control of the city government? Huh?

The vicious rumors claimed that every church gathering, or even the sight of two black businessmen chatting on the sidewalk, was evidence of this conspiracy. The flip side of those rumors was that whites should immediately arm themselves, just in case.

All of this was pretty weird to the black and white Republicans in control of the city government, because everyone knew it was false. But over a two-week period, every gun store in Wilmington suddenly implemented a new policy: No firearms were sold to blacks, who were understandably nervous about the political situation. But they sold 400 guns to White Democrats in that period.

The Democrats then issued a “White Declaration of Independence” in Wilmington, calling for the interracial city government to be disbanded and for all blacks to be stripped of voting rights, since they could not be trusted to vote the correct way. They also demanded that black community leaders drive the owner of the black-run newspaper out of town immediately.

When the black Republicans refused, 500 white Democrats stormed the Wilmington Armory, grabbed every firearm they could get their hands on including a Gatling gun, and began exterminating every black and white Republican they could find, including women and children. White Republican fathers were dragged from their homes and given the option to leave town immediately and never come back – or be lynched on the spot.

Because they had been banned from arming themselves in the runup to this event, some 2,000 black Republicans were forced to flee into the nearby swamps and hide on that chilly November night. They abandoned their homes and businesses in Wilmington, never to return.

Most of the prominent black-owned businesses, including the black-owned newspaper which had a slightly different take on events than the Washington Post, were burned to the ground. As many as 300 black men, women and children were murdered in the streets of Wilmington by angry Democrats who had just lost an election.

The Red Shirts then stormed the city offices in Wilmington and forced the Republican administration to resign at gunpoint. The next morning, the former black and white city leaders were literally dragged through the streets in front of cheering Democrats. Then they were loaded on a railroad boxcar (another favorite pastime of progressive liberals) and banished from the town. The Democrats who had authored the “White Declaration of Independence” installed a new government in Wilmington. The federal government never intervened.

Charles Aycock was a wealthy White Supremacist Democrat who helped to organize many of these events from behind the scenes. Fawning liberal newspapers described him as a reluctant folk hero who had been forced by historical events to step in and put down a “violent uprising” that the black and white Republicans had started. Aycock was elected governor a few years later, after blacks were once again banned from voting by Democrats.

I’ll bet you never heard that story in school, did you? Every black and white patriot in America who supports gun rights should teach their kids about the Wilmington Coup of 1898. That’s how progressive Democrats behave when they’re locked out of power too long. It all sounds eerily familiar, doesn’t it?

It’s also why the Democrats and media got so nervous about a peaceful gun rights rally in Virginia this week. They know their own history better than we do.
