Your right to own the tools necessary to defend yourself and your family in the event of a home invasion is under fierce attack from people who do not understand the values America was founded on. They are making open war against your ability to be safe and do not have your rights trampled on by a tyrannical government.
The enemies of your ability to be safe, strong, and formidable are loud and influential. But they are also a minority. The truth is that the majority of Americans still understand that the right to self-defense is a fundamental freedom. They understand that it is one of the natural, God-given rights which the founders called inalienable. Not only is the majority of the American people on the side of gun rights, but the number of people who support the second amendment is growing.
We know this in part because the National Rifle Association has added more than 350,000 subscribers to its four main magazines during the first half of this year. In the previous year, subscriptions were on a sharp decline.
The prevailing speculation is that the country was becoming more confident in its second amendment rights. We were sure that after the election of Trump, we wouldn’t have to worry as much about gun grabbing feds coming around to confiscate weapons. After February, however, when gun grabbing left wing goons started going rabid- NRA memberships and magazine subscriptions started going up.
Ordinarily, the NRA does not share subscription information. But the gun rights advocacy group came under scrutiny which claimed that they were vying for more political clout by reporting inflated subscription numbers. As a response to this attack on their character, the NRA polled its members to see if they approved revealing subscription rates to prove their point.
The response from subscribers was overwhelming approval. The result is, left wing gun control advocates who claimed the NRA was puffing itself up now have to eat their own unsubstantiated words.
More importantly, it means that we are not losing the battle for our right to bear arms. Not by a long shot.
NRA members are entitled to receive a complimentary subscription to one of four magazines; American Rifleman, America’s First Freedom, American Hunter, or Shooting Illustrated. An NRA membership is the primary way that subscriptions to these magazines are obtained. So, what we are looking at here, with the sharp increase in subscriptions is not just an uptick in magazine sales. It is a sharp uptick in the rates of NRA membership.
This flies in the face of thousands of deceptive anti-gun articles and news stories coming from gun-control dominated press outlets. It has become common knowledge that Obama’s infamous claim about the so called gun show loophole was an outright lie. We have also seen how the left consistently warps the facts and the stats surrounding guns. When they site stats, they leave out facts like the vast majority of gun deaths are the deaths of thwarted perpetrators. They fail to account for the nearly 30% of gun deaths that are suicides. The remainder of incidents of gun violence committed by legal gun owners withers to an insignificant fraction in light of these facts.
Anyone who does even a small amount of research will quickly conclude that gun ownership is far more of a deterrent to crime and violence than it is a contributor to it. CNN and MSNBC won’t tell you that. They certainly won’t tell you that mass shootings are at their lowest levels since the mid ‘90s when Clinton anti-gun laws were put into action. In fact, violent crime of every kind is at record lows everywhere in America except liberal run cities like Chicago.
For the people who know these things, it can feel like you’re all alone, like everyone else is a CNN zombie looking to eat your gun-owning brain. But the truth is, America gets it. The average American citizen, the great majority of people, understand that responsible gun ownership stops crime- it does not promote it.
This proves two things. It proves that the people are not swayed by fake news nearly as much as it might seem. And it proves that Americans are far more independently thinking people than anyone- particularly the fake news media- gives them credit for.
