Several local governments have been caught using the coronavirus pandemic to ban firearm and ammo sales with emergency powers. It’s disgusting. Some are bold enough to try and confiscate guns from citizens right now. Where that doesn’t work, the left is determined to shame everyone who stocked up on firearms and ammo when it started to look like the virus could get bad.
As if those plays aren’t bad enough. Anti-gun politicians are at the same time working to reduce police from arresting criminals during this pandemic.
Before we get into this, it’s important to understand that this problem doesn’t stem from police forces themselves. It’s a political problem. With that said, many cities and counties are working to reduce the policing of crimes. You saw New York City institute this policy in January, where they got rid of bail for the majority of infractions.
The new versions going around are even more extreme. Baltimore and Philadelphia have both used the virus to issue emergency orders. They are banning police from intervening in non-violent crimes. Theft is basically being legalized.
For whatever reason, these local governments seem to think that the cure to a virus is to institute the purge. That might sound like lighthearted sarcasm, but when you follow these policies to conclusion, it becomes a chilling revelation.
This gets a whole lot worse, very quickly. Cleveland, Ohio has decided to lead by example and use the emergency to empty prisons. Hundreds of prisoners are being released to reduce the risk of them catching the virus.
They’re being released into a city with relaxed policing. This isn’t calculus. Everyone can calculate what comes next.
If this was the only city, it would be bad. Unfortunately, the left wants to do this everywhere. You need to be ready to defend your home and your family—no matter if you live in Cleveland or Topeka.
The craziest part of this entire, insane mess is that police forces in a lot of places are under less stress right now. When a significant portion of the country stays home, there’s less crime to worry about. There won’t be any school shootings. Major events don’t need security. Our resources to protect our communities are greater than ever, and leftist politicians are using a crisis as an excuse to undermine our institutions. It isn’t surprising, but it is disturbing.
That’s the real big picture. Only in time will we know if we did the right thing or overreacted. What won’t be in question is how the left seized the opportunity to push as much of their destructive agenda as possible. Remember, the goal on the left is Marxism. They want to destroy our economy and our society. Why wouldn’t they use a global pandemic as an excuse to increase crime and instability? The virus is just an excuse.
Here’s the final take away. The 2nd Amendment is more important now than ever before. Don’t let your elected officials take this right away from you. Every election is important to vote in. Remember this come November.
