Women and Minorities Embrace CCW Permits

Ask an anti-Second Amendment liberal who most likely is to buy and carry a concealed handgun, and virtually everyone will tell you: “White males clinging to guns and Bibles.” They got that notion from former President Barack Obama, who ignorantly declared white males to be the nation’s top terrorist threat and said only white males who are losing economic independence give a damn about the Second Amendment. The reason, Obama claimed, was because white males are experiencing a reduction in their white male privilege.

In the minds of liberals, like Obama and those who support his anti-gun platform – well, except for Mexican drug cartels that got cheap firearms via the Obama administration’s stupidly laughable Operation Fast and Furious debacle, firearms serve no valid purpose.

A perfectly good example is a recently published piece in the Pacific Standard, which refers to the majority of gun owners in the United States as: “spiritually rootless, economically imperiled white males with an otherwise missing sense of purpose and power. For them, any hint that gun rights are imperiled is an unacceptable threat to their personal identity.”

So, male crackers, listen up: liberal prejudice and bias strongly are steeped against you. Yes, they are coming for your guns, and they aren’t happy you know about it. They admit it in telling quotes, like “any hint that gun rights are imperiled is an unacceptable threat to their personal identity.”

Fortunately, a new study shows the extent to which the anti-gun liberals are missing the target on just who is embracing the Second Amendment and gaining empowerment in the process. Those people are, in fact, women of all races. Well, except in California, where observational data show women and Hispanics have the hardest time getting the legal right to carry a concealed firearm for personal protection.

The recently published report from the Crime Prevention Research Center and entitled Concealed Carry permit Holders Across the United States: 2018, shows women are the group most actively embracing the Second Amendment by obtaining concealed carry permits. The study also shows an increasing number of Americans directly exercising their Second Amendment right by obtaining CCW permits and packing heat while out in public.

The study shows since the 2016 elections, the concealed handgun permits issued across the United States rose to more than 17.25 million. That is nearly 900,000 additional CCW permits issued over the past two years. That represents a nearly 275 percent increase in the number of CCW holders across the United States over the past 10 years.

While those numbers are impressive, they actually under report the number of people obtaining CCW permits due to 14 states enabling their freedom-loving residents to carry concealed without obtaining permits to do so.

And, who is it that the study shows are getting CCW permits and buying more handguns? Women of all races. In eight states located in all regions across the nation, data show a 207 percent increase in CCW permits issued to women, versus a 103 percent increase for men in the same states. In states that provided race-based data, black residents are obtaining CCW permits at a rate about 20 percent greater than white residents.

Texas provides some of the most detailed information on CCW permits issued from 1996 through 2014. In a state liberals consider a bastion of white male privilege and regressive policies, observational data show the liberals are missing the true state of affairs. Texas shows Asians, Blacks and Native Americans are obtaining CCW permits at far greater rates than any other demographic.

Blacks in particular increased their CCW permits by 140 percent from 2012 to 2016. Native Americans also more than doubled their receipt of CCW permits over the same period.

The study clearly shows that virtually all minority races, and women in particular, are embracing the Second Amendment at far greater rates than their white male counterpart. Such information makes it very difficult for race-baiting liberal politicians who hate the Second Amendment to declare it the last bastion of emasculated white males. It does show those who oppose the Second Amendment and gun rights in general are downright delusional.
