Since the gun control debate remains such a hot topic, it’s past time to take an honest look at the left’s point of view. Simply put, gun control is the most deliberate form of liberal racism. It has been for a very long time, and recent events and arguments have changed nothing. Let’s review the leftist stance on guns and see if it has evolved over the centuries.
The Racist History
The true story of gun control is long and dark. The very first implementations predate the Constitution itself. Before the 2nd Amendment, various states implemented a range of gun laws. They primarily served two purposes: ensuring the general population was sufficiently armed to resist incursions (from Natives and European powers alike) and keeping slaves from fighting back. Even after the ratification of the Constitution, most states had laws that prevented black Americans, free or otherwise, from possessing weapons.
After the Civil War, Jim Crow laws and other legislation all worked to maintain the oppression of the freed slaves. All of the laws hinged on the principle of denying the 2nd Amendment right to people of color. It was so extreme that when the 14th Amendment was resolved, leaders in the country cited gun rights as the primary reason for introducing it. Unarmed black Americans couldn’t defend themselves. The Democrats, led by the KKK, fought for years to keep the minority vulnerable.
Even during the Civil Rights Movement, many local and state laws specifically targeted black Americans. Some tried to make gun ownership too expensive for the minorities while others called them out by race. Some of the most notable legislative victories of the NRA were overturning the bulk of these laws in the 70s. They were able to utilize Civil Rights rulings and apply them to firearms.
The trend here is pretty obvious. Liberals have always claimed to be anti-gun. In practice, their gun laws have always targeted blacks and other minorities. It perfectly mirrors how the Nazis disarmed the Jews in Germany.
Modern Iterations
Today, the liberals are craftier in their approach, but they still want to use legislation to keep black Americans from owning weapons. Every incremental gun control law raises the cost of legally purchasing a firearm. California, for instance, has so many additional regulations on gun ownership that it is cost prohibitive for lower income individuals to buy a firearm. Weapons that meet the state’s stringent laws are more expensive in the first place.
Storage regulations and punishing taxes add hundreds of dollars to the purchase of any weapon. Because of this, the state has the lowest ratio of gun ownership for minorities in the country.
The racism isn’t limited to laws, either. Prominent liberals have frequently attacked any black Americans who support the 2nd Amendment. Alyssa Milano went so far as to suggest that any dark skinned activists should be labeled as terrorists. If you pay close attention, you’ll see that the majority of heated exchanges between celebrities and gun rights activists involve minority members of the latter group. It’s an excuse for the prominent left to vent their pent up racism, and they don’t shy away from the opportunity.
It’s beyond a twist of irony that the self-proclaimed party of minorities is so adamant about keeping them from having autonomy. They talk about how cops disproportionately kill black men, but they don’t want those same men to be able to defend themselves.
They’ll rant about the abuse of homosexuals and transgenders in the country, but heaven forbid that abuse be stopped by the armed minority.
The same group that accuses our country of rape culture can’t allow the idea of women carrying weapons in self-defense. Hypocrisy doesn’t feel like a strong enough word at this point.
Democrats have always counted on the suppression of minorities to retain their power. People talk about the “party swap” of the 70s, but it never really happened. Democrats utilized free labor in the form of slavery for a century. When they lost that avenue, they relied on Jim Crow to keep the minorities under control.
When the Civil Rights movement succeeded and made overt racism illegal, they switched tactics. The insidious design of welfare programs and unevenly enforced laws were the new weapons, and they have served the Democrats well. It has always been deliberate. It always will be deliberate.
The true downfall of the Democratic Party will stem from the autonomy and self-sufficiency of American minorities.

The anti gunners want to take guns away from everyone except ANTI GUNNERS the reason is they want to stay safe and if dis armed they will not feel safe and at the same they want guns taken away from the people because if the people have guns the ANTI GUNNERS can not have total control and they want total control.!!
I found out that Wisconsin residents lost the right to conceal and carry in 1872 and this may have been due to keeping slaves from owning guns. Has anyone else researched this and found any evidence to support or disprove this?
I have learned of this in the 1980’s when I was studying my African American History and was NOT SHOCKED to find the true history of gun control. This is why I feel that all Americans, African Americans included who can legally own firearms should do so at their choosing.
