Surreal: Third Person Arrested for “Murder” in Ahmaud Arbery Case

The national media is doing everything that it can to turn the Ahmaud Arbery case in Georgia into the next Trayvon Martin incident. Prosecutors who are bowing to media and Twitter pressure are not helping. If you thought it was outrageous that they ended up charged the father and son involved in Arbery’s death with murder, wait until you learn what happened next. A third person has now been charged with “murder” just to placate the race baiters who are driving this story.

If you missed our previous coverage of this story, here it is in a nutshell. The Arbery case was a bad shoot. You should never chase someone with a gun over a property crime, which is what happened here. Arbery had broken into a home under construction and was caught wandering around and trespassing in it. He ran and a former police officer and his son chased Arbery. A third person was following Arbery in another vehicle and was recording Arbery on a cell phone.

When the father and son ordered Arbery to stop as he was fleeing the scene of the crime (citizen’s arrests are legal in Georgia, as is open-carry), Arbery charged the son. Arbery grabbed the shotgun and pulled it toward himself as the son had his finger on the trigger. The first shot fired was an inadvertent trigger pull that Arbery caused himself, by attacking the son. After Arbery threw several punches at the son, a couple more shots were fired and Arbery dropped. All of this is in the police and prosecutor’s reports, when the father and son were initially not prosecuted. Again – it was a bad shoot but did not rise to the level of “murder.”

Now, the son has been charged with murder. The father who never fired a shot has also been charged with murder. And finally, the citizen who was following Arbery and recording him as police rushed to the scene has been charged with “murder.” Arbery was black and the three people now charged with “murder” are white.

This is so insane that it’s difficult to even wrap your head around it if you’re a normal person. The individual who recorded the incident on his cell phone… who did not have a firearm and was not with the father-and-son duo… has been charged with murder and attempted false imprisonment.

This is a citizen who was doing what almost every person now does when they see a crime being committed: He whipped out his cell phone and started recording Arbery, as Arbery was running from the scene of a crime. Police were on their way to the scene to arrest Arbery and this citizen was recording Arbery so that he would not escape.

And that person is now charged with “murder” due to political correctness run amok.

Here’s an example of how crazy that is: I was in Hollywood for a project last year when a hit-and-run occurred about ten feet away from me. An illegal alien in a Toyota was towing a massive load of scrap metal (this is actually a common sight in Hollywood these days). He swerved on Sunset Boulevard for no apparent reason, causing the trailer to sideswipe a parked car. The car that he sideswiped was wrecked – easily a couple of thousand dollars in damage. And then he just kept driving. As I looked around there were probably 30 other people who had seen the hit and run who had their cell phones out recording the Toyota as it fled the scene.

If the illegal alien had then run over a pedestrian and killed them, would those 30 people recording it on their cell phones have been charged with “murder” or “vehicular homicide?”

That’s about how much sense it makes that Georgia authorities have charged the man who recorded the Arbery shooting on his cell phone.

Everyone involved in the Arbery case now – including the media – is overreaching. If you don’t believe it, compare and contrast the coverage of the Arbery case with the shooting at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Police have now identified the victims – Paul and Lidia Marino, ages 86 and 85. They were at the cemetery to visit the grave of their son who had died of cerebral palsy three years ago (Paul was a veteran, so his non-veteran son was buried there). The Marinos were executed by 29-year-old Sheldon Francis, an African American who then engaged police in a six-hour standoff and gun battle. Francis riddled police vehicles with bullet holes for hours before a police sniper finally nailed him.

The mainstream media has still never mentioned the Francis murder of the Marinos, which just happened, and which was a much more dramatic shooting incident. And as Steve Sailer mentions today, the New York Times’ website has mentioned “Ahmaud Arbery” in 93,500 stories since the incident happened back in February.

We’re entering truly crazy territory here when you can be arrested for murder for recording a crime that was in progress. Especially when the reckless Enemy of the People media decides to throw gas on the fire.
